After a while of owning the CX500 I have decided it is time for the exhaust. It sounds good and clean but personally I like a more defined tone when riding. The CX forums provide a good information source on what mufflers to get and what fits.
It just so happens that some specific Harley Davidson mufflers do fit on the CX without major modifications! The pipes that I have they are from a Harley Davidson 1200 and they are known as: Screaming Eagle 2 pipes. When the chance popped up on Marktplaats I just knew that I had to grab it and make this the first CX on the internet with Scream Eagle pipes.
Nice pipes considering these are second hand and have been used for years on a HD 1200.
The pipes have a removable baffle that will be taken out, when the sound is too loud I will replace the baffles as I do not want the CX to be too too obnoxious. In the video below you can see what the pipes look like without the baffle. (Please note: I still have to clean and restore the pipes!)
UPDATE: 13-July-2026: I managed to get off the old original exhausts, they were rusted solid on the H-box and needed some serious heat and WD40 to get them loose again.
The H-box is rusted so I need to find a suitable replacement for that too but for now I can start fabbing up the mounts for the mufflers.
