The CX500 that I own has a couple of flaws, one of the flaws is that the suspension is very old. I decided to change that. I managed to buy some new in box RFY shocks, these are made in China but still offer a reasonable quality shock. I had the shocks on hand since February 2026.

As you can see on these pictures the shocks are almost new, a little chip there and a very minor scratch here.
To fit these Shocks you will need to adapt and modify, more on that below:

After a couple of hours fiddling and modifying the bushings I have one side fitted. The right side still needs work but that will be done later in the week.
The rings used are 17mm ID and 25mm OD and 3mm height. I used a dremel to lightly remove some rubber from the stock bushings so that they would fit on the stock post.

As of today 28th of August the shocks are fully mounted and have been tested!
Fitting the shocks did really take some time as I had accidentally damaged the pin that is in the shaft drive hub. I managed to fix it with a new tap and die set. My honest opinion is that these shocks improved the ride quality in the rear end by a lot. Now let’s see how long they last.
