Nissan Almera N16 2002

Time to talk about one of the builds in the garage—the 2002 Nissan Almera N16. This little Japanese compact is one of my favorite projects to date, and it perfectly captures the SPEC33 philosophy.

SPEC33 Build: 2002 Nissan Almera N16

This car is a perfect example of the SPEC33 method in action. Here’s a breakdown of the build:

The Foundation

The 2002 Nissan Almera N16 is the perfect starting platform. It left the factory with a 1.5L or 1.8L naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine producing around 90–110 horsepower and weighing just 2,500 pounds. It’s lightweight, practical, and built on Nissan’s stiff monocoque chassis with MacPherson struts up front and a torsion beam rear. The car is reliable from the start, but with its clean lines and surprisingly eager chassis, it practically begs for more.

Bold Choices & Real Mechanical Character

This Almera isn’t just another econobox—it’s a sleeper statement. Every weld, every adjustment, every part was chosen with intent. This is what SPEC33 is all about.
